ABOUT US
Exceeding Expectations One Patient at a Time
Yorktown Hand/Occupational Therapy has been dedicated to providing high-quality upper extremity rehabilitation since its establishment in 1993. At our offices, patients will receive focused, comprehensive one-on-one treatment sessions in a cheerful, professional environment. Our primary goal is to return patients to their optimum/prior level of function as quickly as possible.
After a thorough assessment, each patient will receive a customized therapy program designed specifically for his or her needs. A myriad of techniques are utilized to help patients increase range of motion and strength, decrease pain and swelling and improve fine motor coordination, thereby improving overall function.
Treatment sessions are with our Certified Hand Therapist, Margo Libenson, who is a licensed Occupational Therapist. Margo has been serving Yorktown and the surrounding Westchester and Putnam County communities for more than 25 years. In addition to the Yorktown location, Margo also has offices in Brooklyn and The Bronx. Our office staff is available to answer questions throughout the treatment process.

Strengthening and Conditioning
Patients will be provided with specific exercises tailored to their needs. Exercises will be performed at the time of service to increase strength and range of motion. Patients are instructed in fine motor coordination activities to improve their dexterity. Specific home exercise programs are issued and upgraded as needed.

Scar Management
Scar tissue forms as a normal healing response following surgery or injury. Depending on how a scar heals, patients may benefit from massage, vibration, exercises, desensitization and/or silicone gel sheets. These techniques will help the scar to become softer and flatter and help to prevent adhesions.

Ergonomics Education
Many people suffer injuries or pain syndromes from inefficiency in their work environment. Our therapists will teach patients proper body mechanics and provide information to help prevent job-site musculoskeletal injuries while providing comfort, efficiency and safety. In addition, we teach joint protection and energy conservation techniques.
